One thing about SoCal is that there is never a want for something to do. We share a lot of events we’re stoked on via our Facebook pages but this time of year it is crazy. Here is a curated look at some of our recommends with an emphasis on riding bikes.
Tuesday 12/13 at 7pm (leave at 8pm) • Awarewolves Full Moon Bike Ride
Embarcadero South (the Basketball Courts behind the Convention Center).
Riding your bike at night is already awesome. Doing it during the full moon is epic. There are a bunch of FMBR but we recommend the longstanding Awarewolves ride. This one is the 75th!
“a mellow ride up the hill to Old Trolley Barn Park. Led by Ricardo Juarez (@inlinesixer)! This is San Diego’s 75th FMBR!”
Thursday 12/15 at 5pm • Standing Rock Fundraiser & Celebration
Carnitas Snack Shack Embarcadero
Can’t be there in person but want to be apart of the massiveness that has become Standing Rock? The goal is to raise $250,000 to support the cause. There will be food, music, speeches from Veterans back from South Dakota and more.
Thursday 12/15 at 7pm • North County Full Moon Bike Ride
City Hall of Encinitas.
It isn’t the official Super Moon but not everyone can get out on a Tuesday night. The leader of this ride has unmatched enthusiasm, and good vibes are expected.
Friday 12/16 at 7pm • SD Bike Party “Jingle Bell Roll”
Bea Evenson Fountain – Balboa Park
Holiday themed ride through University Heights, Normal Heights, Kensington and more to view the Holiday Lights of the city. 10-15 miles at a leisurely pace.
Saturday 12/17 at 10am • Beer for Breakfast Bike Ride
Hub & Spoke Cycleworks
A new ride and hopefully a new tradition of going on a beer brunch the day after SD Bike Party’s Friday Night Ride. Each ride will head to a new beer establishment. This first ride is a leisurely 20 miles roundtrip stopping at Coronado Brewing in Imperial Beach & traversing the Tijuana River Nature Preserve.
Sunday 12/25 at 10am Beach Cruise & Brunch for Christmas Misfits
Crown Point Park, Pacific Beach
Some of you aren’t going home or celebrating a particular holiday. But that doesn’t mean you can’t eat, drink and bike. Meetup at Crown Point Park and begin a cruise for holiday misfits, weirdos and get excited to celebrate by the sea…or ocean…or bay…definitely with margaritas.
The new photography set at Misfit in La Jolla opened up on Friday celebrating the surf local surf community. Stop by and check it out. Be sure to follow their page as they are always rocking great events.
Thursday 12/15 at 3pm • One Wild Life Yoga & Cider
Palisades Park, Pacific Beach
Riff Studios’ Rebecca Barnes is going to lead a yoga session at the park as we try to stay even-keel during the holiday season. Followed up by warm apple cider and snacks aboard the One Wild Life Adventure Lab.
