Meet Walter, a 1970 Volkswagen Bus who pops up at cycling events, charities, and group rides around San Diego. Cyclists say he’s a turquoise beacon of hope in the distance, because when they see Walter they know he’s coming loaded with water and food. Walter is part of a club in which members can join to receive cool discounts, free stuff, access to a ‘Members only’ website and all of the dues fund Walter’s restoration project. The top level of membership is pretty bad-ass, you and 5 of your cycling buddies can have Walter as your very own support vehicle and Walter will even plan your route for you and your group. If you aren’t into cycling he’s pretty handy carrying kayaks, surf boards or a host of other toys. Oh yeah, did I mention that there’s a fully catered picnic for your group? For more information about Walter or to become a member check out www.whereiswalter.com.
Or you can find him at these upcoming events:

Nov 23: TheLifeRide Kick Off Event at Helen’s Cycles in Santa Monica
Nov 30: CycloVets Great Western Training at Starbucks Rancho, San Diego
Dec 06: TheLifeRide Training event – Location TBD
Jan 17-20: CCSD Women’s Cycling Camp at HERevolution in Solana Beach
If you’re already a member stop and say, “Hi,” when you see Walter out and about for free stuff from CCSD (Cycling Camp San Diego) sponsors or a cold beverage.
